Beautiful fall colors along the Big Thompson River on Monday morning.

Sunday, October 9th -  Photo Of The Week...

Our area's wonderful fall colors are once again the subject of our photo of the week. This week's photo was taken along the Big Thompson River, near mile marker 67 on Highway 34, on the morning of October 5th.

The photo shows the beautiful colors from trees and shrubs other than our world famous Aspens. The colors in the foothills and valley are still quite spectacular and, barring high winds, should continue to provide plenty of fall beauty throughout our area for days to come.

While these colorful leaves are quite beautiful, the may prove to be quite damaging to the area trees should we get a heavy snowfall, with the weight causing severe breaking of the branches.

Area residents are advised to keep watch over trees and shrubs still bearing leaves over Sunday night and Monday, and to keep as much snow as possible from building up, to prevent damage. Shaking the tree or tapping the branches with a stick is a good way to achieve this.
