Sunday, November 14th - Historic River Forks Inn Restaurant Now Open... Once again area residents can dine locally with the re-opening of the Historic River Forks Inn Restaurant in Drake... Under new management and featuring the fine cooking of Jeff Metz, the River Forks Inn will be serving lunch and dinner on Wednesday thru Friday and breakfast, lunch, and dinner on weekends... The restaurant will for now be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays... The Stage Stop Café is also now open Monday thru Friday serving breakfast and lunch, and closed on weekends... Stop on by and enjoy some great food!!!


Thursday, November 11th - Northern Lights Possible Again Tonight... A strong eruption on the Sun yesterday hurled yet another CME (Coronal Mass Ejection) at Earth which is hitting our atmosphere now! Area residents are advised to go outside tonight and look to the north for Auroras... Photographing is recommended as the camera can see far more than the human eye... Recommended settings are ASA400 with exposures of 10 seconds and longer... Most digital cameras have these settings... We would love to see your photos... Email pictures with a short description to news@stormmountain.net and we will post them on this site... An excellent layout of Sunday's display can be found in the print version of tomorrow's Estes Park News... 

Flu Clinic On Nov 20th For High Risk Adults... The Larimer County Department of Health and Environment in cooperation with the Estes Park Medical Center and the Sunshine Rotary has scheduled an influenza (flu) vaccination clinic for high-risk adults... The clinic will be held on Saturday, November 20, from 1 PM to 4 PM in the conference room at the Estes Park Medical Center, located at 555 Prospect Ave... Complete information can be found below...

Wednesday, November 10th - Winter Weather Advisory Thru Midnight... The National Weather Service in Denver has extended a "Winter Weather Advisory" for Front Range foothills and I-25 corridor, including the Storm Mountain area, until 12am MST... Snowfall will increase in intensity by mid-morning and may become heavy at times... Additional accumulations of 3 to 6 inches can be expected... Residents are advised to use extreme care on FDR 128 as substantial icing is likely should the temperatures drop below freezing...


Tuesday, November 9th - SMN Owner To Be Featured In Reporter-Herald... SMN owner, Darrell Spangler, will be featured this Thursday in the "Outpost" section of the Loveland Daily Reporter-Herald... The article, written by Doug Crowl, will be on the recent Aurora Borealis and Spangler's remarkable photography of the event... Spangler's photos have been seen on everything from local postcards to International magazine covers and grace the walls of homes and offices worldwide... Now semi-retired, most of his work is in the Astrophotography field... Spangler also does free-lance photography for groups, individuals, and businesses including family reunions, senior portraits, and promotional photos... Monday, November 8th - Bridge Work On Hwy 34 To Begin Tomorrow... Area residents traveling to Loveland and other parts of the valley via Hwy 34 can expect delays due to bridge construction... Traffic on 34 will be detoured between Carter Lake Road and Rusty May's Tack Shop starting Tuesday, November 9th... The detour is reported to be 7 miles... Residents are advised to allow extra travel time during the construction... This project is expected to last for ten days...

Northern Lights Put On Spectacular Display... Last night the "Northern Lights" put on a superb show for area residents... For several hours the sky was ablaze with a rainbow of moving color... A strong geomagnetic storm is responsible for this display and may possibly continue into tonight... As a bonus, we are currently passing through a 1000 year old stream of dust associated with comet Temple-Tuttle, the parent of the annual, "Leonid Meteor Shower"... Be sure to watch for meteors (shooting stars) tonight also...
